Here’s why iPhone 14 Pro, Pro Max & iPhone 15, 15 Plus are not getting Apple Intelligence?

0

The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be released with iOS 18.1. However, if you happen to own an iPhone 14 Pro, Pro Max, iPhone 15 or 15 Plus, then you are not eligible for the Apple Intelligence. The only iPhones that will be embraced with AI are iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

While the company announced the new iPhone 16 series and Apple Intelligence on the same day, the AI features were not already installed in the new iPhones. The Cupertino giant decided to go for a phased rollout starting with iOS 18.1. The rollout will continue in phases until next year and conclude with iOS 18.4.

After hearing the new AI features such as Chat GPT integrated Siri, new writing tools, Image cleanup in Photos, notification summaries, I got really excited to try them out on my iPhone. But I can’t. Because Apple has made it’s AI exclusive to the newer models. So, even after spending a lot of money, you don’t get Apple Intelligence.

Those who have purchased the base iPhone 15 models or even if you have iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro, you will miss out on these rather productive features. So, the question arises, why these iPhones are not getting Apple Intelligence features.

Apple-intelligence-inline-image
(The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available with iOS 18.1 on iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro models)

Why are iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 base models not getting Apple Intelligence?

Apple has its own reasons for it. These iPhones does not qualify for the AI features because of the older chipset they are running is incompetent. Hence, they won’t be able to run features like smarter Siri, automatic categories for mail, etc.

The last year’s iPhone 15 phones already use the same chipset, but they are also not capable of running these features. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max use the A17 processor with a 6-core GPU, while the standard iPhone 15 is equipped with an A16 processor with only a 5-core GPU.

The newly released AI features will require more processing power, which is currently only available in the Pro and Max versions of the iPhone 15. The iPhone 14 also only has a 5-core GPU, while the iPhone 13 has a 4-core GPU. Therefore, Apple Intelligence is not available on older iPhones.

We hope that this article answered the question you’ve been searching for.

Fix iPhone 16 Bluetooth connectivity issues using these workarounds

It’s frustrating spending a lot of money on a phone just to be troubled by the basic functionality. If Bluetooth is acting up on your iPhone 16 device too, then find solace in knowing that you’re not the only one having issues. Many iPhone 16 users have complained about Bluetooth connectivity issues on their units.

All four models in the series – iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and Pro Max – are equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, the latest version, for better connectivity. Despite featuring the latest Bluetooth version, the new iPhones are struggling to connect. This article delves into all the ongoing Bluetooth issues, possible reasons for this happening, and potential workarounds.

Table of contents:

Ongoing Bluetooth issues on iPhone 16 series:

Hearing aid not pairing

For some users, the hearing aids are not pairing up, or when trying hard, some can connect just one of their hearing aids.

Unable to connect to Car Bluetooth

While some users cannot connect to Car Bluetooth, others who succeed at first say it won’t stay connected.

Unable to connect devices using Bluetooth

Furthermore, people are also having trouble connecting devices such as speakers, earphones, action cameras, and other Bluetooth accessories, including AirPods.

Distorted audio

The Bluetooth functionality on iPhone 16 devices is acting up quite heavily. Even though some users succeed in connecting their devices via Bluetooth, they end up getting distorted audio.

Possible reasons for Bluetooth connectivity issues:

Software glitch: As is usually the case with every newly launched device, the iPhone 16 is having pretty common optimization problem. Some features might not be very well optimized with iOS just yet. In such cases, users need to wait for new updates to fix the issues.

Hardware issue: While this is complete speculation, the hardware may be responsible for the Bluetooth connectivity issue. If that’s the root cause, users should contact Apple support or get their unit replaced.

Try these workarounds to Fix Bluetooth issues on iPhone 16:

Restart your iPhone and the Bluetooth device

Issues like these often get resolved by a simple restart. Therefore, if you are having Bluetooth issues on your device, then you should try restarting it if you haven’t yet.

  • To restart your iPhone, press and hold the volume up button and power button for a few seconds.
  • A new window with a slider to turn off the device will show up. Slide to power off.
  • Once the device turns off, hold the power button again to turn it on.

(You need to slide to turn off your iPhone)

Forget Bluetooth settings and try pairing again

If restarting doesn’t work, then another solution would be to forget the Bluetooth settings of the connected devices and try pairing them again. Here’s how to do it on your iPhone:

  • Go to Settings and locate Bluetooth settings.
  • To remove the device, tap on the ‘i’ symbol next to the device name and select Forget this device. Tap on Confirm.
  • Now turn your Bluetooth off and then turn it on. Try pairing again by following the usual pairing process for your Bluetooth device.

Reset network settings

Another option is resetting the network settings. If the two workarounds don’t work, then you can also try resetting the network settings of your iPhone.

  • To reset network settings on your iPhone, go to the Settings app and select General. From there, find the Reset option and tap on it.
  • You’ll then see a list of reset options, including Reset Network Settings. Select this option and confirm your decision by tapping on it again.

PS: Please note that resetting network settings will erase all your Wi-Fi passwords, cellular settings, VPN configurations, and APN settings, so make sure you have any necessary information handy before proceeding.

After resetting, your iPhone will automatically reconnect to available Wi-Fi networks and cellular data, but you’ll need to re-enter your Wi-Fi passwords and any other network settings that were previously saved.

Reset iPhone

  • To reset your iPhone, go to the Settings app and select General. From there, find the Transfer or Reset iPhone option and tap on it.
  • You’ll then see a list of reset options, including Erase All Content and Settings. Select this option and confirm your decision by tapping on it again.

PS: Please note that erasing all content and settings will delete all of your data, including photos, videos, contacts, messages, and apps. It will also restore your iPhone to its factory settings. Make sure you have a backup of your data before proceeding. After erasing all content and settings, your iPhone will restart and be ready to be set up again.

Fix hearing aid Bluetooth connectivity issues

One of those affected users has pointed out a workaround that resolved the connectivity issue for them. For those who are having trouble connecting their hearing aids to iPhone 16, then here’s the YouTube video of the potential workaround. They can simply try it and see if it helps.

Contact Apple support

If the aforementioned workaround doesn’t resolve the Bluetooth connectivity issues, then you can also contact Apple support to see if it’s a hardware-related issue. If so, then they will guide you for further actions.

We hope that the Bluetooth connectivity issue gets resolved after trying one of the aforementioned workarounds. However, if it still persists, then you need to wait for the new software updates.

What is Private Space on Android 15 and how to set it up

0

With the Android 15 update, Google introduced several privacy-focused features, including Private Space. This feature lets users hide their private apps, documents, photos, and other sensitive data in a dedicated password-protected space. It is similar to the Secure Folder available on Samsung devices, but instead of hiding your private things in an app, it lets you create a dedicated space on your device.

Once you set it up, the Private Space is located at the bottom of the app drawer from where you can easily access it by unlocking using a password or biometrics.

What is the use of Private Space?

The primary purpose of Private Space is to protect sensitive information. Secondly, you can also use this space to separate your personal and work stuff, if you use your devices for both work and personal purposes. Lastly, while it is not a direct replacement for multiple user profiles, you can use this space to create another user profile by logging in with your email account.

How Private Space works:

To start the setup, it is recommended that users create a dedicated Google account to ensure that the hidden photos, files, and documents remain private. However, users can also use their existing account. Once the account is added, the space must be protected with a lock to prevent unauthorized access. Finally, you can start adding the apps you need to secure under Private Space.

Setup Private Space on your Android 15 device

  • To set up Private Space, go to Settings on your device and look for the Privacy and Security option. Under this section, scroll down to Private Space. It will ask for your biometrics or PIN code and then let you in.
  • Next, you need to click on Set up. Now, you will be asked to create a Google account. Click on Got it. You’ll have to log in to your Google account by entering your email ID and password. Or, you can also choose to Skip this step.

Private-space-setup

(PS: If you press skip, you won’t be able to download Music, games, apps, and other content from Google Play. Moreover, you won’t be able to back up your apps to Google and sync Google services like Calendar and Contacts with your device.)

  • Now, it’s time to choose the lock. You can either select Use screen lock or Choose new lock. For better security, we would recommend using a new lock. If you choose a new lock, you have the option to lock with pattern, PIN or password, while enabling fingerprint is optional.

You are all set. To access the Private Space, scroll to the bottom of the app drawer. Tap on the lock icon and you’ll be in your Private Space.

Hide Private Space

If you don’t want the Private Space to show in the app drawer and wish to hide it, then there’s an option to do that too. For that:

  • Open Private Space in Settings and click on Hide Private Space tab. Now, toggle on the Hide Private Space when it’s locked option.

(Hide Private Space settings)
  • To access Private Space after hiding it, in the search bar enter ‘private space‘, it will appear. Tap on it and unlock it.

Delete Private Space

If you don’t want to use Private Space anymore, then you can also delete it permanently. To do so, just go to Settings > Security and privacy > Private Space > Delete Private Space. And then, go ahead and delete it. You can set it up again, whenever you want.

In an era where smartphones have become an integral part of our lives, the security of devices and personal data is paramount. It seems that Google is effectively doing its part in protecting users’ interests. If you own an Android device, then you will soon be able to make your device anti-theft as Google has introduced a robust Theft Protection feature, designed to safeguard your phone and its contents in the event of theft. This article delves into what this feature entails and provides a step-by-step guide on enabling it.

What is Theft Protection feature on Android

Theft Protection is a comprehensive security suite introduced with Android 15, but it is also available on devices running Android 10 and newer. This feature leverages artificial intelligence to detect if your phone has been forcefully taken from your hands. It includes several tools to protect your device and data:

Theft Detection Lock: This tool uses motion sensors and other device data to determine if your phone has been stolen. If it detects suspicious activity, it locks the device immediately.

Offline Device Lock: This feature locks your phone if it goes offline, which is a common tactic used by thieves to prevent tracking.

Remote Lock: Allows you to lock your device remotely using a pre-confirmed phone number through the Android Device Manager.

Find and Erase Your Device: You can locate your stolen device and erase its data using Find My Device.

How to enable Theft Protection feature

  • To enable Theft Protection feature, you need to go to device’s Settings.
  • Then click on Google. Under Google Services select All Services and then scroll down to find Theft Protection.
  • Now, turn on Theft Detection Lock, this settings will make sure to lock the screen if it notices that someone stole the device and ran away.
  • Another settings is Offline Device Lock, that will lock your device automatically sometime after it goes offline to protect your data.
  • The third settings you will see on the page is Remote Lock, using this, you will be able to lock your screen using another device. If your device is stolen, you can easily lock its screen with just a phone number at android.com/lock.
  • All you need to do is, open the website, enter your phone number and then click on Lock device.

If you have turned on all these settings on your device, rest assured. You will have control over it even if it gets stolen. While this is one of those features we hope you never use, turning these settings on is not a loss, to be on the safer side.

This trick helped me bring old Copilot UI back

0

Microsoft introduced Copilot (a generative AI tool) in response to Open AI’s Chat GPT and Google’s Gemini. For me, Copilot was very different from these tools (in a good way, of course). When I was disappointed with the response from Chat GPT or Gemini, I would straightaway go to Copilot to get exactly what I needed.

What made it stand out from the competition? Copilot consistently delivered precise and informative responses, often including links to relevant sources. Its clean interface and ability to access recent history made it a valuable tool for me. Unfortunately, Microsoft’s recent decision to revamp the Copilot UI has significantly impacted its usability.

It seems like the company wants to make this tool similar to other generative AI tools. If so, then they’ve succeeded, but at what cost? It’s not just me, many who were dependent on Copilot have taken to social media platforms to criticize this move. Users say that they want the old UI back. However, I am afraid that’s gonna happen (not at least anytime soon).

Here’s how to bring the old Copilot UI back

If you too are not happy with this change and want to go back to the old UI, then you will find solace in knowing that there’s a way around this problem, but there’s a catch. While the workaround can effortlessly bring the old Copilot UI back, it’s unknown how long it will work. For now, if you want to get back the old Copilot UI, you can access it via the following link: https://edgeservices.bing.com/edgesvc/chat

What changed? After using the new UI and the old one I can conclude that the responses I used to get while using the old UI were undoubtedly precise and detailed. In short, the new UI feels like I am using a new AI tool from Microsoft and it just doesn’t feel like using Copilot. I hope that Microsoft will soon acknowledge this concern and make further changes to the UI to align with the previous one.

Moreover, the Image playground AI feature will be added that will allow users to generate images based on a description, suggested concepts, and even a person from your Photos library. Similarly, users can also create Genmojis using description.

Looking at Apple’s past trends, the iOS 18.2 is expected to be released in December.

iOS 18.3 – New AI features for Siri are in the works that will be available with iOS 18.3

iOS 18.3 will release at the begining of 2025 and will likely bring some additional enhancements to Siri. Other than that, it’s unknown as to what new AI feature this update will bring, but as soon as new information arrives, we’ll make sure to update this section.

iOS 18.4 – Siri – Personal Context, On-Screen awareness, and deeper Per-App controls, plus AI features expanding to even more countries.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Siri’s highly anticipated ability to offer more personalized and contextual responses will not be available until March.

Gurman had previously indicated that these advanced features, including personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls, would be part of iOS 18.4 which is expected to be released to public in March, 2025.

Furthermore, Apple Intelligence will expand its language support to include Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Vietnamese, and other languages in 2025. This timeline suggests that these additional languages will be incorporated into iOS 18.4.
While there’s also a possibility of these languages being added in iOS 18.3, it’s more likely that iOS 18.3 will be a relatively minor update released shortly after the U.S. holiday season.
